A powerful ivory netsuke of a shishi. 18th century

In the style of a grazing horse, the feet placed close together, the head lowered. Head and mane as well as the muscular body with its clearly visible backbone finely carved just as the bushy tail with its thick curls. The encircled eye pupils are inlaid in black horn. Restored.
