An ivory netsuke of a group of monkeys and an octopus. Second half 19th century

All fighting for a kaki-fruit, which the monkey on top holds up victoriously in order to defend it from the tentacles of the angry octopus. The octopus' eye pupils of dark horn. Signed Isshû.
