Duke Christian von Sachsen-Weißenfels (1682 - 1736) ruled as of 1712. He received the Danish Order of the Elephant in 1713. The Duke was the owner of one of the most spectacular works of art of the era, namely the famed Weisenfels hunting chalice, which was made by Johann Melchior Dinglinger and his brother and can today be viewed in the Grünes Gewölbe in Dresden (inv. no. IV 72).
