A Brandenburg cut glass goblet with a portrait of King Friedrich Wilhelm I

Flat base supporting a solid shaft with faceted pommel and eight bubble inclusions surrounding a central smaller bubble. The tapering cup issuing from a rounded join containing further bubble inclusions. Decorated with a portrait of the king within a crowned cartouche flanked by trophies. H 21.5 cm.
Potsdam or Zechlin, 1713 - 40.

Friedrich Wilhelm I (1688 - 1740), whom this goblet celebrates, was King in Prussia and Prince Elector of Brandenburg as of 1713.
