A goblet and cover commemorating Prince Eugene of Savoy

Round base supporting a faceted baluster shaft with twisted canes, tapering cup and original lid with faceted pinecone finial. Decorated with a round medallion depicting the prince in profile, inscribed "VIVAT. P. EVGENVS VON SAVOYEN".
Attributed to Schreiberhau/Szklarska Poreba, 1st third 18th C.

Prince Eugene Francis of Savoy–Carignano (1663 - 1736) was one of the most important generals of his era. This glass was presumably produced to honour his victories in the Ottoman-Venetian War.
