A painted wood netsuke of a Chido mask. Early 20th century

The forehead and cheeks of this large gigaku mask display deep wrinkles, the long and narrow nose and bends downward, the open mouth with red lips shows two rows of teeth. Signed Tetsurô with kao (=Ichikawa Tetsuro, 1901-after 1985).
Height 4.7 cm

The fact that Tetsuro (1901 - after 1985) didn't carve any mask-netsuke after his 1929-exhibition at Mitsukoshi, Osaka suggests this piece being an early 20th century-carving.
