A Berlin KPM porcelain plate “Marchande de Cupidons“

Model no. 1113. The motif depicted on a chocolate brown ground. The border decorated with pale blue draperies on yellow ground. D 24.5 cm.
C. 1780 – 1800, the motif after Francesco Bartolozzi.

The print by John Ogborne after the motif by Francesco Bartolozzi was published in London in 1783 by John Thane.

Cf. an identical plate published in Ponert, Kunstgewerbe I Keramik, Berlin Museum 1985, no. 153. Due to the existence of comparable pieces in the collection at St. Petersburg, the author proposes that this service may have been delivered to the Russian court.
