A cast iron kylix-form dish

Black and brown patinated cast iron. The centre decorated with a figural frieze alternating with six small trees. The base engraved "ART UNION OF LONDON 1851". H 13, W 42.5, D 32.5 cm.

A total of 21 bowls of this type were produced following the Great Exhibition at the Crystal Palace in London and raffled off by the Art Union of London via a lottery.
