A Berlin KPM porcelain vegetable dish from an imperial dinner service

Model no. 881 with “Kurländer” pattern décor. Octagonal plate painted with roses along the border and lip. Blue sceptre mark, red imperial orb mark, iron cross, year letter O, impressed marks 2 and E, various painter's marks, red owner's monogram W II and 1915. D 24.1 cm.

On occasion of her marriage to prince elector Wilhelm II of Hessen-Kassel, Princess Auguste (1780 - 1841), daughter of the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm II (1744 – 1797), received a dinner service using the “Kurländer” pattern mouldings and decorated with “detached roses on green ground”. The Kurländer pattern quickly established itself as a popular décor style that would also appeal to the tastes of the last Prussian emperor.
