A mortar from 1682 with an inscription

Golden brown cast bronze with honey coloured patina. Decorated with a band of delicate meandering arabesques and two central winged angel's heads. With a banderole below the rim inscribed in capital letters: “LAVS DEO SEMPER ANNO 1682”. The handles formed as dolphins. Verdigris to the interior, minor dents around the rim. H 14.2, D 16 cm, weight c. 3.9 kg.
Attributed to the Lower Rhine Region or Netherlands, 1682.
