A London lacquered bracket clock

Made from Japanese red lacquered wood picked out in gold and silver leaf and mounted in engraved brass. With blued steel hands. Weekly running movement with verge escapement, fixed pendulum, and quarter-hourly musical striking on eight gongs. The case glazed on all faces and decorated with Chinoiserie designs and trelliswork. With carry handles on either side. With engraved signature “John Monkhouse London” on the dial and plate. All but one of the hands and the glass replaced. H 58, W 34.5, D 18.5 cm.
