A North Italian bronze figure of Saint Michael, second half 16th century

Cast in the round and partially fire-gilt. This statuette of the archangel is carved in the round. It depicts him in a dynamic, striding pose holding a sword in his upraised right hand. The armour is depicted in great detail and vividly accentuated by the gold detailing.
Minor breakages to the helmet and the right knee. Two drilled holes on the reverse. Loosely mounted to a wooden plinth via a screw beneath the right foot. Height 14.5 cm (without plinth).
