Flemish 17th century

A 17th century Flemish carved wood Anna Selbdritt group

Probably oak, carved from two blocks, partially pierced. With minimal remains of former polychromy. A pierced high relief in which the figures have been carved on a separate baluster-form acanthus clasped bracket. Saint Anne is depicted holding the Christ child, who is shown reaching for the exposed breast of his mother Mary.
An acanthus leaf missing from the plinth. Minimal wear. 39 x 31 x 9 cm.
