Three hanging scrolls, ink on paper. a) Scarecrow (kakashi), inscription: Taoyate no / yumi ya o mochi nu / kakashi kanashii (Tender hands hold bow and arrow, the scarecrow is sad), signed Hachijuni o (the 82-year-old) Nantenbo Toju, sealed Nantenbo, Toju, Rinzai shoshu and Hachijuni o, foxing, b) seated fox with a staff, inscription reading, Yo watari no uki kabôshu yudansuna i kite mo kitsune narikeri (Monks who float through life, take heed, though wearing robes, you are foxes). Signed Nanajukyu o (the 79-year-old) Nantenbo Toju, sealed Hakugaikutsu, Toju, Nantenbo, skull and Toju, c) one-line calligraphy (ichigyo), seven characters in sosho, signed Hachijusan o (the 83-year-old) Nantenbo Toju, sealed Hakugaikutsu, Toju and Nantenbo.
