A Satsuma incense burner. Late 19th century

Of octagonal shape with a straight wall, painted in enamels and gold with two large dragons and rakan in a landscape. Signed Dai Nihon Satsuma kuni Fuzan zô, Shimazu mon and seal reading Jitsu. The lid of silvery metal pierced in shape of a stylised chrysanthemum.
