Three wood netsuke. 20th century

a) A reptile with a fat belly, b) kinchaku with ojime and kagamibuta. The bone disc with stylised bamboo leaves, c) brush and yatate on top of a book. All signed: Kazuo (= Mitsutani Kazuo, born 1932).

The book shows close resemblance to a netsuke from the Bushell collection, described as a Kokinshu-volume. Originally a multi-volume publication of more than 1000 Heian period poems dedicated to the transience of time and the constant change of the seasons.
