An 18th century Flemish bronze relief of the Madonna Lactans

Cast bronze with old patina and chased decoration. An oval bronze relief plaque with a smooth rim and indented centre depicting the Virgin in half-length, feeding the Christ Child with Her milk, whereby the quiet intimacy of the scene is enlivened by the high relief rendering of the figures.
Minor abrasions throughout. 21.5 x 18 cm (oval).
