An 18k gold mother-of-pearl and ruby butterfly brooch

Designed as a stylised butterfly, the wings formed from carved mother-of-pearl set with eight rubies (in total 0.80 ct), the body from an oval shaped dendrid quartz. The wings also set with two brilliant-cut diamonds (in total ca. 0.24 ct, K/L, vs). Can also be worn as a pendant via two bails on the reverse. Hallmarks: Maker's mark "JB". Modern French Fineness stamp. 3.4 x 4.2 cm. Weight 19.4 g.
