A Belle Epoque 18k gold opal brooch

Shield shaped surround set with rubies (in total ca. 0.50 ct) and old-cut diamonds (in total ca. 0.56 ct, H/I, si-p, the largest stone ca. 0.23 ct). With a central bezel set opal of ca. 5.01 ct (ca. 18.14 x 11.98 x 4.03 mm) with intense red, blue and green opalescence. Double-pin brooch findings with safety chain. Can also be worn as a pendant. Hallmarks: Fineness 750, maker's mark. Total height 3.8 cm. Weight 9.68 g.
