A Hamburg silver hot chocolate pot

Cylindrical vessel with a short spout and wooden handle. The lid with a hole for a whisk. Engraved with a dated inscription "Bened. Louise Fr. Elis. Germar geb. Rötger" on the outer surface and "Gatttin des Hofpredigers Germar in Augustenburg" on the underside. H 17 cm, weight 373 g.
Marks of Johann Friedrich Schröder, circa 1780 - 90.

Benedicte Louise Friederike Elisabeth Germar (1783 - 1828) was the wife of Friedrich Heinrich Germar - court preacher at Augustenburg Castle on the Danish island of Alsen and tutor to the ducal princes Christian August and Friedrich of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg.
