A Cologne silver communion chalice

The eight-lobed base decorated with applied medallions depicting the Virgin Mary, the Crucifixion, and Saints Peter and Paul amid filigree decor and coloured stone cabochons. The cup resting in a basket with corresponding decor and engraved below the rim with a frieze depicting Saints George, Michael, Hubert and Gereon. With compressed quatrefoil node and enamelled shaft. Includes a, presumably replaced, patene and unmarked spoon. In the original case with replaced lining. H 22.8 cm, weight 1,033 g.
