A rosewood box by the workshop of Abraham Roentgen

Rosewood, dark stained yew, walnut, ebony and mahogany veneers on oak, brass and brass-plated iron mountings. Oblong box with a concave gable top with a handle. The lid and the four outer faces with dark veneer framed by contrasting brass and ebony strips. The protruding base resting on four curved bracket feet. With a removable mahogany inset with three compartments and a shallow secret door in the ride side of the base that can be opened via a hexagonal button in the inner right wall. The lid slightly warped on either side. With handle folded down H 13.5, W 27, D 15 cm.
