A Meissen porcelain goose seller group

Figure of a peasant man sitting on a barrel offering a goose to a lady with a pouch of money in front of him. Blue crossed swords mark, incised model no. 720, pressnummer 132, sepia 74. H 15.5 cm.
Model by Johann Joachim Kaendler, 1745, produced late 19th C.

This figure is described in Kaendler's “taxa” entry of 20th November 1745 as “a group depicting a peasant in his usual clothing sitting on a barrel holding a goose in his hands with a basket beside him containing a goose and chickens, beside him a woman offering him money with a market basket in her hands containing a carp, beside the peasant man a sack of apples (…) 16 taler”.
