A rare Meissen porcelain dinner plate from an order for the Prussian court

Shallow scalopped plate painted with three putti as an allegory of astronomy with an observatory in the background. The rim with four children as allegories of the seasons. Blue crossed swords mark with dot and three additional dots below, dreher's mark 57 B. D 23.4 cm.
1763.

The plate may have been a commission for the birth of the English Prince Frederick August, who was born in London on 16th August 1763 as the son of King George III and Queen Sophie Charlotte, a native of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
