A dark red woven cotton liturgical vestment (chasuble). Probably Krefeld. Late 19th century

Reworked in Japan in the style of a jinbaori. At the back in appliqued silk embroidery a large cross with the Jesuit monogram IHS at the centre with flowers, foliage and scrolls in golden-yellowish tones, the front cut open with borders and a collar of Japanese obi material. Traces of wear.
