A wood and ivory netsuke of a courtier with a puppy. Late 19th century

Sitting on his heels and holding two gold coins (koban) he looks down to the peabald puppy in front of him who sits on top of a pile of takaramono. The tabaco set at his back inlaid in mother-of-pearl. Signed Kyokusei on an inlaid ivory tablet. Puppy and takaramono reattached with glue.
