An enamel double-box formed as a chest

Black, white and polychrome enamels on copper, gilding. The lid decorated with a trompe l'oeil depiction of a paper attached with sealing wax inscribed "Monsieur vous plait-il une prise Saintomer". The upper lid with another trompe l'oeil of an envelope, the lower with a couple in a landscape, crossing their attributes, under the title: "Mit meiner Scheid ich mehr gewinn/ als du mit deiner Degen kling". Wear to the enamel of the base. H 4.2, W 5.8, D 3.8 cm.
Berlin, attributed to Alexandre Fromery, mid-18th C.
