A French ribbed mortar with Judith and Holofernes

Golden brown cast bronze with dark brown patina. Decorated throughout with ribs alternating with depictions of Judith holding a sword and the head of Holofernes. Older tin solder repair to the centre on the underside (round, 2 cm wide, with patina). A horizontal casting fault to the interior. Dents to the edge. H 9.1, D 13.2 cm, weight c. 1.5 kg.
