A Dutch mortar with hunting decor

Thickly cast golden brown bronze with shimmering brown natural patina. Tapering mortar on a protruding base. Decorated with scenes of figures hunting game and rabbits, bands of arabesques and cherub's heads. Inscribed below the rim in Latin capital letters: "AMOR VINCIT OMNIA 1702". With larger losses to the underside caused by casting or usage, minor wear, dents. H 21.1, D 26.9 cm, includes pestle, weight with pestle c. 24.4 kg.
Deventer, attributed to Gerrit Schimmel, 1702.
