A rare late Gothic mortar with mascarons

Thickly cast golden brown bronze with silvery brown patina. Decorated on both sides with three thick baluster-form pillars and bearded male mascarons. One side of the broad rim with letter plaques (illegible due to casting). With minor dents around the rim. H 15, D 20 cm, includes a corresponding pestle, weight with pestle c. 9.1 kg.
Attributed to Spain, 16th C.
