A mortar dated 1629

Golden brown cast bronze with natural patina. Squat mortar decorated with two bands of acanthus foliage and inscribed below the rim in capital letters: "VITVS OHRTS ANNO 1629". With dents around the edges and wear due to usage on the underside. H 10.3, D 12.7 cm, includes a double-ended pestle, weight with pestle c. 2.6 kg.
