A Dresden silver teapot

Oval-shaped vessel with a wooden handle and finial, engraved with an aristocratic coat-of-arms. H 15.5 cm, weight 636 g.
Marks of Gebrüder Schrödel, 1808.

The Schrödel brothers came from an old Dresden family of goldsmiths that produced several court silversmiths from 1724 onwards. Carl Christian and Christian Friedrich also belonged to the small circle of Wettin court suppliers. (Cf. Arnold, Dresdner Hofsilber des 18. Jahrhunderts, Berlin/Dresden 1994, pp. 35, 51).
