A Meissen porcelain plate with a parrot and a Bolognese dog

Scalloped plate with moulded rim. The lip decorated with gilt rimmed brown acanthus tendrils and shell motifs, the well with a depiction of a parrot and a barking Bolognese dog. Numerous insects conceal minor flaws in the mass. Blue crossed swords mark, dreher's number 22. A small rim restoration at 11 o'clock, the basal ring partially restored. D 23.9 cm.
Circa 1740.

The Dresden Porcelain Collection houses several items from a tea and coffee service with this decor. A dinner service with the same decoration was unknown until the publication of the catalogue of the Ole Olsen collection in 1927. This Danish collection housed over 50 items from the service.
