A Meissen porcelain platter with a parrot and a Bolognese dog

Scalloped platter with moulded rim. The lip decorated with gilt rimmed brown acanthus tendrils and shell motifs, the well with a depiction of a parrot and a barking Bolognese dog. Numerous insects conceal minor flaws in the mass. Blue crossed swords mark, pressnummer 20, incised II in the basal ring. Minor wear to the gilt edging and the ground. D 30 cm.
Around 1740.

The Dresden Porcelain Collection houses parts of a coffee and tea service with the same decor. Until the publication of the catalogue of the Ole Olsen Collection in 1927, it was not known that a dinner service with this décor also existed. There were over 50 service pieces in the Danish collection.
