A carved wood figure of a bishop saint, South Germany, around 1500/1510

Carved in the round, the reverse only partially worked, the reverse of the base flattened. With partially overpainted older polychromy. A figure of a saint in a bishop's robes standing in a contrapposto stance, designed for a slightly lowered viewpoint. The front of the integrally carved plinth with a small rectangular opening designed as a reliquary.
The separately attached left hand with bishop's crozier lost. A crack to the front right of the base. Minor wear throughout. Height 39 cm.
