Iberisch-Kolonial 18th century

An 18th century Iberian-Colonial carved wood figure of the Virgin from a Nativity scene

Carved in the round. With glass eyes. With presumably original older polychromy. A figure of the kneeling Virgin facing towards the right and looking downwards, originally from a multiple-figure depiction of the Nativity. According to the family of the present owner, the figure originates from Quito in Ecuador.
The loosely attatched hands lost. Minor wear throughout. Height 28 cm.
