A lacquered and gilded wood figure of Buddha Amida and a base with mandorla. Edo period

Seated in meditation, both hands in raigo-in, the eyes and the urna of glass. The base combines a double lotus and a hexagonal architectural base decorated in relief with sayagata and shokko patterns. The mandorla carved with clouds. The Buddha is too large for the base.
Height of the Buddha 28 cm; height of the base with mandorla 56.5 cm

The Buddha was acquired from Galerie Robin in Paris in 2007, the base and mandorla from Lempertz, Cologne, 26/27.11.1999, lot 521
