A Viennese 14k gold diamond brooch with a ca. 3.23 ct European old-cut centre stone.

The foliate surround set with 78 cushion shaped old-cut diamonds (in total ca. 1.68 ct). The central prong set old-cut diamond ca. 3.15 ct (ca. 10.26 x 9.78 mm, O/P, si). With three different bails enabling the piece to be worn as a brooch, pendant or button. The two original mounting rings hallmarked: Viennese assay marks used since 1872, mis-struck maker's mark. The white gold screw on the reverse and the white gold mounting ring replaced. The older central stone not originally belonging to, girdle with significant chips. 2.6 x 2.6 cm. Diameter mounting rings 2 cm. Total weight 17.77 g.
