A carved walnut relief of a lion hunt

This motif is derived from the painting "The Lion Hunt" by Horace Emile Jean Vernet (1789 – 1863), which was first exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1838 under the title "La chasse dans la plaine du Sahara le 28 may 1933" and is now housed in the Wallace Collection in London (inv. no. P585).
