A Parisian gilt and patinated bronze pendulum clock "La leçon d'astronomie"

Ormolu clock with white enamel dial on a dark green marble plinth. Figural bronze depicting two women at a table with an armillary sphere, the plinth with relief appliques of binoculars and measuring instruments flanked by a globe and telescope. The dial signed "Galle Rue Vivienne à Paris". Later pendulum movement with thread suspension, without pendulum. The glazing replaced, the outer ring of the armillary sphere defective. H 39.8, W 39.2, D 13.8 cm.
Bronze cast by Guss Claude Galle (1759 - 1815), designed by Jean-André Reich, 1807.
