A Meissen porcelain plate from a dinner service for Count von Seydewitz

With the comital arms supported by two lions rampant in the centre surrounding by "indianische blumen" and insects. Blue crossed swords marks with underglaze blue subsidiary mark (I?). With some scratches and minor wear to the glaze. D 22.3 cm.
Around 1739, decor presumably 1743.

Literature

Cf. cat. Sammlung Hoffmeister, vol. II, Hamburg 1999, no. 348, for a smaller dish from the service. Since August Friedrich von Seydewitz (1696 - 1775) was only raised to the rank of Imperial Count in 1743 and was allowed to bear this coat of arms, Dieter Hoffmeister already assumed that most of the service pieces should be dated later, even if they bear early drehers' marks (p. 610).
