A Meissen porcelain dish with a parrot and a Bolognese dog

Octagonal dish decorated with brown acanthus foliage picked out in gold and four shell motifs around the rim. The centre of the plate painted with a scene of a parrot on a perch and a Bolognese dog. With insects, some painted over minor firing flaws. Blue crossed swords mark, dreher's number 27. H 8.6, W 33.7, D 30.5 cm.

The porcelain collection in Dresden contains parts of a coffee and tea service with the same decor. Until the publication of the catalogue of the Ole Olsen Collection in 1927, however, a dinner service with this decoration was unknown. The Danish collection contained over 50 items, including this bowl.
