A carved wood figure of the Pensive Christ, South Germany, around 1700

Carved in the round and partially free-standing. With partially overpainted older polychromy. This small devotional image depicts Christ sitting on a stone, dressed in a perizonium and wearing the Crown of Thorns, resting during His Passion with His head sunken and resting in His right hand.
Two minor older replacements to the edge of the plinth below the left foot and on the right edge. Minor wear throughout. Height 24.5 cm.
