A Nagasaki black lacquer and aogai inlaid lidded box. Around 1830

Of rectangular form on four bronze paw feet and with lateral bronze lion heads with movable ring handles. On the lid a perspective city view with boats, possibly depicting Amsterdam in very thin aogai inlays of different-sized pieces with details in ink drawing and thin strips on a black lacquer ground, the sky is enlivened by tiny aogai flakes, on all sides delicate flower sprays. Lock with key and hinges of silver-plated copper. The inside bottom lined with green velvet. Some inlays missing, insert tray inside lost.
