Standing on four elephant's head feet, displaying the four Chinese mythological animals, the dragon and phoenix in cartouches and the smaller figures of kirin and minogame as well as a few small clouds in relief on an overall archaistic patterned ground. Cast mark reading Seiryûsai shu on the base.
Height 30.4 cm; diameter 43 cm

The basin could have been used as censer or hibachi, or in the West as a cache pot.
