A wooden and aogai-inlaid saddle. Edo period

Composed of four parts joined and tied together. The pommel and cantle with chrysanthemum sprays in takamakie and goldfoil on an overall ground of finely inlaid small square aogai pieces. A few foils missing or damaged. Mounted. Wooden box with six padded bags and a saddle cushion of printed leather. The lid with an inscription reading: Ise Ise mori origami urushi Kura ikkosh and two paper labels refering bagu (horse accoutements).
