An Augsburg parcel gilt silver beaker and cover

Tapering beaker with moulded rim on three ball feet. Decorated with repoussé cornucopias and shellwork surrounding three oval reserves with emblems: 1. A domed cathedral, inscribed "Ich dien Sowol zum Spil Als auch zum Kriegen vil", 2. A fire in the fireplace: "Schaff sanffte linderung in grausamen gewitter / Versüsse was ist bitter", 3. A set square on a wall: "Von dem was Krum und Schlim das rechte mas ich nim". The domed lid with embossed fruit motifs and a spherical finial. H 15 cm, weight 296 g.
Maker's mark "HPG", attributed to Johann Philipp Gross, 1689 - 1692.
