Horizontal scroll depicting the gathering of 42 Chinese scholars including Wang Xizhi at the Orchid Pavillion, holding a banquet at the spring festival at which wine cups were floated along a stream while guests composed poetry. Ink and colours on silk. The painting inscribed hôin Kosensô gyonen nanajûgosai hitsu (painted at the age of 75 years) and sealed. Colophon with the "Orchid Pavilion Preface" text. Two unread seals. Wooden box, the lid inscribed Ranteiboku hôin Kosensô ga.
