A rare pair of Rügen silver candlesticks

Round, scalloped fluted bases supporting moulded baluster-form shafts and vase-shaped nozzles. Engraved with monograms "A.v.B." and "G.C.v.B." underneath.
Garz on Rügen, marks of Andreas Jacob Rudolph, 1760s.

Andreas Jacob Rudolph was born in Stralsund and became a master there in 1751 following his training in Copenhagen. He filed for bankruptcy in Copenhagen in 1761 and appears to have moved to the island of Rügen after that. Both religious and secular works by this maker with the Garz assay mark have survived.
