An important Meissen porcelain cup with a portrait of Maximilien de Robespierre

The cup painted with a portrait facing right in a large oval reserve filled with amethyst geode designs. The well of the saucer with a large letter A above clouds. Blue crossed swords mark with star and subsidiary mark, dreher's no. 50 (to the cup). H cup 6.3, D saucer 13.6 cm. In the original silk lined leather case.
After 1793.

The portrait in the oval medallion on the cup follows, reversed, the painting in the Musée Carnavalet, Paris, which is dated around 1793 and was distributed as a print.
